About Us

The Carol Ann Sanders Foundation began from one man's passion for photography combined with his desire to put his efforts toward a worthy cause. The desire to honor his mother was near and dear to his heart. Over an anniversary dinner at a favorite restaurant, chatting with his wife and doodling ideas on napkins, the idea was launched. The Carol Ann Sanders Foundation is an advocate of the Alzheimer's Association and works solely as an independent fundraiser to support continued research efforts and assistance programs related to the disease. The Alzheimer's Association is leading the way as the foremost authority in education and research. But there is so much to be done. We wanted to do something and the Carol Ann Sanders Foundation is our first step to help others!

From the springboard of our website, we also personally participate in a number of local and regional art shows and special events to display artwork and increase awareness of the memory loss symptoms and preventative measures associated with Alzheimer's disease. We have teamed up with a talented group of artists to create a variety of items featuring wildlife and floral photography. We like to think of the artwork as our gift to you in appreciation of your support of the Carol Ann Sanders Foundation. Your donation will benefit the Alzheimer's Association and our Caregiver Financial Assistance Program. We are proud to offer this program as a way to help sustain the quality of life for individuals and families living the challenges of Alzheimer's dementia. We are working with the local Minnesota-North Dakota chapter of the Alzheimer's Association to enhance our efforts. Through this teamwork we will help make the Carol Ann Sanders Foundation a viable resource in the crusade against Alzheimer's disease.

Our Mission

We are a family helping other families! With the proceeds of our various fundraising activities we intend to help make a positive impact on the quality of life for individuals with the enormous challenges - physical, emotional and financial - associated with Alzheimer's dementia.

The Carol Ann Sanders Foundation:

  • works as an advocate of the Alzheimer's Association to educate and increase awareness of the current research efforts, treatment and support programs
  • provides grants to families for assistance with expenses related to the care and support of their loved one with Alzheimer's to allow the individual to remain within the home and family unit
  • donates proceeds from the sale of artwork to the Alzheimer's Association for continued research efforts
  • contacts governmental agencies to promote the Alzheimer's Association message and its need for additional research initiatives

As we develop the Foundation and its resources we hope to:

  • offer a scholarship for young women who maintain high academic standards, are involved in community activities, and like Carol, actively participate in sports

November 2009 Marks our 5th Year Helping those with Alzheimer's disease.  Thank You for Your Support!

Since her retirement seven years ago she has enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and maintaining a close relationship with her grandchildren.
